For a premium and clean looking deck, hardwood decking is the best option. It costs a little more than treated pine but is less prone to movement in the joints and opening of gaps over time.

Some commonly available types of hardwood for decking is: Greenheart, Purpleheart, Kwela, Mahogany. Having said that, treated pine will still create a fantastic, cost effective deck, that will last for up to 25 years.

You may be considering building your deck at a height over 1 metre. If this is the case you will need to clarify with your local council whether a building permit is required. We are more than happy to help with this process
